Ridge: The highest point of a roof where two sloping sides meet.
Rafter: A sloping structural member that supports the roof decking.
Sheathing: The layer of material (usually plywood or OSB) that is installed on top of the roof rafters and under the roofing material.
Soffit: The underside of the eave that extends from the fascia to the wall.
Underlayment: A layer of material (usually felt or synthetic) installed between the decking and the roofing material to provide additional protection from water penetration.
