MULTI FAMILY ROOFING

Multi-family roofing refers to the roofing systems installed on buildings that contain multiple units or dwellings, such as apartment buildings, condominiums, and townhouses. These roofs typically require different considerations compared to single-family homes, such as the need for increased durability, resistance to foot traffic, and ease of maintenance.

Here are some common types of multi-family roofing:

    1. Built-Up Roofing (BUR): This is a traditional roofing system that consists of multiple layers of tar and gravel or asphalt and felt. It is durable, fire-resistant, and can withstand foot traffic, making it ideal for multi-family buildings.
    2. Modified Bitumen: This is a modern version of BUR that uses modified asphalt and comes in sheets or rolls. It is easier to install and maintain than BUR and has excellent waterproofing properties.
    3. Single-Ply Membrane: This is a lightweight roofing system that consists of a single layer of thermoplastic or synthetic rubber material. It is highly resistant to UV radiation and chemical exposure and is easy to install and maintain.
    4. Metal Roofing: Metal roofing is a durable and long-lasting option that can provide excellent protection against the elements. It is available in a variety of colors and styles, including standing seam, corrugated, and shingle.

When selecting a multi-family roofing system, it is important to consider factors such as durability, cost, ease of maintenance, and resistance to weather and foot traffic. Consulting with a professional roofing contractor can help ensure that you choose a system that meets the specific needs of your building and provides long-lasting protection for your residents.
